2022 was definitely the year that flew! It’s been a big year at Cornus Developments with the completion of 2 projects we delivered homes to 83 new residents, we also commenced a new project and launched a new project all whilst continuing and strongly progressing on another. Phew, I’m out of breath just saying it all out loud!
Despite the media’s trajectory of a property market downturn, we have continued to attain strong sales numbers for our new off-the-plan projects. Whilst, there’s no denying it’s been a tumultuous year, with the Federal and State elections, growing inflation and interest rates and interest in the property market decreasing, it hasn’t been all that bad let’s take a look back and reflect on the year that’s been.
We started the year off with a bang and settled two big projects; Cornus Woodlands in Malvern East and Cornus La Frank in Burwood. These two projects commenced construction during the first wave of covid and were delivered within 14 months, which was a huge feat, considering the site shutdowns, material shortages and covid working restrictions.
We wanted to bring our Cornus signature style of affordable, bespoke, modern living to Malvern East, and Cornus Woodlands nailed the brief. The unique facade embodies the traditional nostalgia of Malvern East and is juxtaposed with modern features, such as the bold structured lines and dark tones, to tie together and bring residents a truly beautiful home. The apartments are characterised by warmth which is exemplified by the European oak flooring and natural illumination, thanks to the implementation of double-glazed windows. The homes flow from the moment you enter due to the design considerations such as; consistency in the interior design that begins with the neutral colour palette, oak flooring and an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area, which is styled with a stunning white and grey veined stone that steals the show.
Our Cornus La Frank project is a light-filled masterpiece, thanks to its corner block occupation which means the apartments are filled with natural, unobstructed light. The design ethos for this project was to create homes that perfectly filter the light throughout, whilst delivering bespoke, modern, open-plan homes. An important design consideration was to ensure that all the natural light filters through as many of the rooms as possible and that the homes have a neutral, warm colour coordination. The open-planed homes featured a white, grey and oak colour palette that perfectly complements modern design trends and the homes. The design ethos was perfectly captured by our architects and displayed in the final result.
Our Cornus Carnegie project was released with huge fanfare, due to its impeccable location, affordable pricing and luxurious inclusions. Throughout the year, progress has excelled and we are wrapping up the year with the project nearing completion. Over the past few months, we have seen the building really take shape and watch our renders evolve into our reality. Last month (November), we watched the completion of the top-level frame, in conjunction with the commencement of the ground-level tiling and joinery. This project is set for completion in Q1 2023, so our residents can spend 2023 in their new homes.
It was an exciting time in August when we commenced construction and broke ground at our Cornus Oakleigh project. This project is our biggest to date and has seen tremendous success with consistently high sales numbers throughout the year, with the project appealing to many first-home buyers due to its price point and centralised location. This project is located in a unique pocket of Oakleigh, which is secluded from main roads and overlooks Caloola Reserve and Scotchmans Creek Trail, allowing residents to enjoy everything Oakleigh has to offer, in a quiet private location. 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and 10 townhouses are still available.
Earlier in the year, we launched our Cornus Glen Iris project. Located in the heart of Glen Iris, this project encompasses 42 spacious apartments set over 2 buildings. This project features a stylish, new interior design with inclusions such as 80mm European marble benchtops and splashbacks throughout the kitchen and bathroom. With construction set to commence in early Q1 2023, now’s the best time to capitalise on the maximum off-the-plan incentives available.
Whilst 2022 was our biggest year to date, 2023 is going to be even bigger as we will hand over our Carnegie project and dive deep into construction at our Oakleigh and Glen Iris projects.
